We answer your questions about our flake food
Food flakes are one of the most frequently used type of food for ornamental fish. We use different ingredients for our food flakes.
These include:
– Fish and fish derivatives
– Molluscs and crustaceans
– Plants and derivatives of vegetable origin
– Cereals
– Algae
– Yeasts, oils and fats
Fish meal, which is made from ground fish scraps, contains proteins and omega-3 fatty acids that are important for both fish growth and fish health. Food flakes also contain other animal ingredients such as prawns, krill and insects.
The plant-based ingredients that provide energy and growth for ornamental fish include cereals, soya bean meal, spirulina (blue-green algae), other algae and vegetables.
Yeast contains primarily B vitamins, which can also have a probiotic effect and can improve the intestinal health of fish. Fats and oils help to strengthen the immune system and skin health. Fish need certain types of omega-3 fatty acids such as EPA and DHA, which are found in fish oil and other oils. Fats serve as a source of energy.
No, but we do have an extensive range of individual food flake products which you can choose from. Get an overview of our varied range of food flakes here.
Store your food flakes in a cool, dry, dark place. This will prevent your food flakes from absorbing moisture and you will no longer be able to use them. Keep out of sunlight. If food flakes get too warm or hot, they spoil.
Above all it’s their variety that distinguishes them. We offer numerous varieties so that you can tailor your food flakes to suit the specific nutritional requirements of your fish species and ensure a varied diet.
Food flakes also contain a high percentage of nutrients. Proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals ensure this. They are also easily digestible for your fish. And last but not least, food flakes are very easy to dose and store.
